Safety Leadership for New Supervisors
Overview
Supervisors and frontline managers play a vital role in achieving and maintaining safety in the workplace. They are key influences on the promotion of a culture in
which safety is a priority and workplace injuries are not acceptable.
If you are new to the role of Supervisor this course will enable you to get up to speed in identifying what factors contribute to a safe system of work.
It is essential to understanding the responsibility you have in achieving and maintaining safety in the workplace.
The workshop will focus on the skills and knowledge necessary to meet legislative requirements and implement or monitor company Occupational Health and Safety policies, procedures and programs.
Intended for
New supervisors, with no previous experience, who require an understanding of OHS legislation and implementing safe systems of work.
Learning Outcomes
- Use communication to liaise with clients, team members and other relevant parties
- Manage on-site safety
- Diagnose and solve routine and non-routine problems
- Apply leadership principles to the team
- Deliver a presentation to achieve meeting outcomes
- Assess and identify unacceptable risk
- Understand and apply knowledge of OHS legislation
- Conduct hazard and risk identification
- Understand the specific responsibilities of supervisors who have been identified as a Section 44 Appointed Person
Units of Competency

Certification
A nationally recognised Statement of Attainment will be issued for all the outlined Units of Competency to those who successfully complete in-class assessment components.
Appointed Persons (Section 44) Training: A Certificate of Participation will be issued at the end of the course to those who successfully complete in-class assessment components.

- Minimum dress standard - neat casual, enclosed footwear and no singlets
- Light lunch, morning and afternoon tea included
Cancellation Policy
To cancel a booking for a course that runs for two or more days, 8 working days are required to enable a full refund, if between 4 and 7 working days a 50% fee will be incurred. Any cancellation less than 3 working days will incur full costs.
