WA Mining Employment Peaks

The Australian Bureau of Statistics announced the total number of people working in the mining industry within Western Australian has surpassed 100,000 for the first time.

The increase of 75,000 people rose over the last ten years and is predicted to reach 120,000 by 2013.

Chamber of Minerals and Energy (CME) WA Director, Damian Callachor, stated "it’s a significant milestone which shows the strength of the WA resources sector and its ability to provide sustained economic growth".
