Overview
AVELING offers you a flexible solution in obtaining your Certificate III in OHS* qualification. You can attend the five day Safety Reps course, complete the course activities and workplace tasks, then submit your documentation for assessment.
Within three months, mail the tasks and activities back to AVELING. We will assess your submitted work and contact you with the results.
Units of Competency
Participants need to complete 12 Units of Competency to gain the qualification.
There are seven specialist OHS units. The Units highlighted in BOLD are linked directly to the five-day Safety Reps course:

Intended for
The Certificate III in Occupational Health and Safety was developed for those people who have a part-time responsibility for OHS in the workplace, such as Safety and Health and Representatives (SHRs), or to provide an entry point into OHS studies for anyone interested in developing their skills in the field of OHS.
Participants are required to finish the units of competence either by successfully completing the relevant training course and workplace assessments; or by gaining exemption through the AVELING’s process of Skills Recognition.
This nationally accredited Certificate III in OHS has an additional fee of $600 after the Safety Representatives Introductory Course.
Pre-requisites
There are no restrictions on entry to this course, however, participants are required to have sufficient numeracy and literacy skills to read and comprehend instruction for:
- Referencing and understanding legislation, standards and codes of practice
- Consulting with workers and employers on safety issues
Participants will also need access to a workplace to enable completion of the learning and assessment activities.

- Minimum dress standard, neat casual (no thongs or singlets)
Cancellation Policy
To cancel a booking for a course that runs for two or more days, 8 working days are required to enable a full refund, if between 4 and 7 working days a 50% fee will be incurred. Any cancellation less than 3 working days will incur full costs.
