Safety and Health Representatives Course Information

This course is accredited by WorkSafe WA in accordance with the Western Australia Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984.

Content

  • Module 1: Occupational safety and health legislation
  • Module 2: Inspections and investigations
  • Module 3: Hazard identification and risk management
  • Module 4: Communication and representation
  • Module 5: Conflict resolution and Provisional Improvement Notices (PINS)

Training Approach

This five-day course has been designed to meet the needs of participants from the mining and heavy industry sectors.

This course combines individual and group activities, discussion, exercises and case studies. The delivery is interactive and focused on practical skills, knowledge and application to the workplace. All exercises and activities are designed to equip Safety and Health Representatives with the tools to represent their workforce effectively.

Qualifications Available

Participants can obtain 6 specialist OHS Statement of Attainments that form part of the Nationally Accredited BSB30707 Certificate III in Occupational Health and Safety. This can be achieved by completing the following:

  • Course activities
  • Conduct work-site safety inspection
  • Complete demonstration activities
  • Complete 'End of Course Knowledge Check'
  • Demonstrate website access
  • Provide Third Party Testimonial validating work as a Safety Rep.

BSB30707 Certificate III in Occupational Health and Safety

Participants who wish to obtain the full Certificate III in OHS would need to complete a series of additional workplace tasks and submit these for assessment. The fee to complete the full qualification is $1440 (plus 10% GST on the assessment fee of $600). Alternatively applicants can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning for all or part of the qualification.

Assessment Only/Recognition of Prior Learning Pathway

People can apply for Assessment Only/Recognition of Prior Learning Pathway if they think they already have the experience relevant to the Unit of Competency or qualification. Please read the attached information to find out how the Assessment Only/RPL process works.
