Across two hours of interactive content, you will explore the different types of hazardous chemicals you may encounter in your workplace, their potential risks, and the appropriate safety measures to handle them. This includes understanding chemical labels, safety data sheets (SDS), and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
You will explore how to recognise and evaluate a chemical spill, assess the potential hazards involved, and determine the appropriate response based on the nature and severity of the incident including using absorbents, barriers, or specialised spill kits.
This course is non-accredited so there are no formal assessments.
After successful completion of this course, you will understand how to:
- Identify chemicals in the workplace
- Review a Safety Data Sheet (SDS)
- Follow chemical response procedures
- Respond to a chemical spill using spill kits and tools
- Follow company reporting procedures
