Take advantage of AVELING’s Management of Licensed Premises (MLP) and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) bundle now, to meet the mandatory training requirements for unrestricted approved managers and licensees in WA.
The WA Liquor Act requires most people working at licensed premises to hold an RSA certificate. Furthermore, licensees and unrestricted approved managers must complete the core MLP1 unit, from the 52735WA Course in Management of Licensed Premises.
Completion of the Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) course is a prerequisite to this unit and must be completed before starting MLPLCA401A.
- Face to Face participants must bring their RSA certificate to the training for verification.
- Self-Paced Learning participants will be required to provide a copy of the RSA certificate.
The MLPLCA401A Manage legislative responsibilities for the sale, supply and service of liquor certificate is only applicable in Western Australia. Each state and territory in Australia has it’s own unique MLP certificate.

An Unrestricted Approved Manager is a manager of commercial license types such as taverns, liquor stores, special facility licences, etc. More details are available here.

MLPLCA401A Manage legislative responsibilities for the sale, supply and service of liquor, from the 52735WA Course in Management of Licensed Premises
Currently the following licensees or managers must have completed the core unit MLPLCA401A Manage legislative responsibilities for the sale, supply and service of liquor as a minimum:
Permanent Liquor Licences
- Individual licensee
- Partnership licensee – at least one partner must complete the required training
- Company licensee – at least one Director must complete the required training
- Unrestricted Approved Manager
- Unrestricted Approved Manager – only required if a condition is imposed on the occasional licence

Anyone in Western Australia who would like to become an approved manager of licensed premises.
Upon successful completion of the mandated knowledge assessment and payment participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for MLPLCA401A Manage legislative responsibilities for the sale, supply and service of liquor which forms part of the 52735WA Course in Management of Licensed Premises.
