This course describes the skills and knowledge a vocational trainer or assessor requires to identify language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skill requirements of training and the work environment. It also covers the use of resources and strategies that meet the needs of the learner group.
Note: Competence in this unit does not indicate that a person is a qualified specialist adult language, literacy or numeracy practitioner.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Analyse LLN requirements;
- Select and use resources and strategies to address LLN skill requirements;
- Identify cultural and social sensitivities relevant to communicating with individuals who are identified as requiring LLN support;
- Access specialist LLN support where required; and,
- Evaluate effectiveness of learning support and assessment strategies in addressing LLN requirements.

This course includes one unit of competency that contributes to the Nationally Recognised TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification:
TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills.
[Please note, the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment has additional course entry requirements. Please see the webpage for more information if intending to complete the full qualification.]
Assessments must be submitted within 12 months of course completion.
AVELING conducts assurance audits on all learners completing nationally recognised online courses to verify identification and ensure the learner completed the course themselves.
For more information, please see our Pre-Course Information.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit.
However, if this is your first AVELING course, you will be required to complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) survey which will be completed as part of the enrolment process.
Based on the outcome of the survey, AVELING may contact you to discuss options that will best suit your individual learning needs. Please note that additional costs may be incurred if literacy support is required.
