Aveling celebrates NAIDOC Week 2025

Staff celebrate NAIDOC Week 2025

6-13 July marks NAIDOC Week in Australia; a time to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year, NAIDOC Week is celebrating 50 years of honouring and elevating First Nations voices, culture, and resilience.

The 2025 theme is “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy.”

This theme celebrates the achievements of the past while looking forward to a future shaped by the strength of young Indigenous leaders, the vision of their communities, and the enduring legacy of their ancestors. It’s a powerful reminder of the resilience and leadership that continues to shape our nation. You can read more about the theme on the official website.

At Aveling, we celebrated this throughout the week, with highlights including our First Nations’ library, where staff were encouraged to explore the stories and voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, past, present, and emerging, who inspire and enrich our communities today.

Our Whistling Eagle Café featured a special NAIDOC Week menu showcasing traditional flavours and ingredients, and our staff came together to learn and celebrate.

As we continue our reconciliation journey, we have been striving to reflect, learn, and participate in activities and partnerships that enhance our understanding and position us to do more going forward.
