Workplace health and safety (WHS) knowledge is in-demand across industries, and this course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to make you a valued addition to any organisation.
Whether your role is exclusively focused on workplace health and safety, or it is part of a broader remit, the BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety provides you with the technical knowledge and skills needed to work effectively across a range of WHS contexts, and provide leadership and guidance to others.
You will learn how to identify and manage risks effectively, apply relevant WHS laws, and contribute to WHS within the workplace.

Our classroom courses are delivered in our modern facility in Jandakot, just 15 minutes from the City, and you’ll get a fully catered morning, afternoon tea and lunch on each day of classroom training.
Covering the latest theory, best practice and practical tools, this course has been broken down into three sessions that include in-class participation and workplace assessments. This experiential learning approach, enhances the ability of learners to solidify their learning, as well as providing a fun and enjoyable learning experience.
As you proceed through the course and successfully complete assessments, you will achieve the following Nationally Recognised Units of Competency.
These sessions can be completed in any order, but all three must be successfully completed to achieve the qualification.
Upon successful completion of this course you will achieve the BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety Qualification, and Statement of Attainment for the Units of Competency achieved through the sessions, as outlined below.
Compliance and WHS management systems – 3 days
BSBWHS412 Assist with workplace compliance with WHS laws
BSBWHS415 Contribute to implementing WHS management systems
BSBWHS418 Assist with managing WHS compliance of contractors
Workplace risk and incident management – 2 days
BSBWHS414 Contribute to WHS risk management
BSBWHS416 Contribute to workplace incident response
BSBWRT411 Write complex documents
WHS processes and procedures – 3 days
BSBWHS413 Contribute to implementation and maintenance of WHS consultation and participation processes
BSBWHS431 Develop processes and procedures for controlling hazardous chemicals in the workplace
BSBLDR411 Demonstrate leadership in the workplace
BSBWHS411 Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs
This course includes workplace assessments, designed to solidify your classroom learning.
Assessments include knowledge questions, workplace assessments relevant to each session and workplace observation reports (to be completed by your supervisor or manager). Assessments are to be completed after each classroom session.
Further learning
Aveling’s BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety ensures learners gain both the technical knowledge and the leadership skills to successfully assist in building safe and healthy workplaces.
In fact, three Units of Competency within this course also contribute to the BSB40520 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management. This means you can reduce the time needed to complete that qualification if you have already successfully completed the Certificate IV WHS.

Certificate IV learner requirements
It is expected that learners applying to a Certificate IV level course meet the following requirements:
Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Survey
If this is your first Aveling course, you will be required to complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) survey to provide us with an understanding of your level of literacy and numeracy.
Based on the outcome of the survey, we may contact you to discuss options that will best suit your individual learning needs. If literacy support is required, additional costs may be incurred.
