The Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) (SITHFAB021 Provide responsible service of alcohol) – WA provides you with the knowledge and skills to sell and serve alcohol responsibly, in compliance with liquor laws in Western Australia and as required by your workplace’s policies and procedures.
As part of this Nationally Recognised course, you will learn how to apply harm-minimisation strategies that reduce the likelihood customers will become intoxicated, by identifying those who are consuming alcohol irresponsibly or showing signs of intoxication, and refusing service stopping serving them.
This includes how to monitor customer behaviour, assessing alcohol-affected customers, and how to refuse service to intoxicated patrons in a polite manner, stating reasons for refusal.
This course is delivered via Aveling’s online Learning Management System (LMS). Once you have booked and paid, you will receive a booking confirmation email containing a link to gain access to the system and your course.

The verbal assessment is carried out with the Assessor over video conference. To complete the verbal assessment, you will need:
If learners have not successfully completed all above components within 90 days of enrolment, they will be required to re-enrol in the course.
Please note: the assessment for this course is conducted in English and must be completed without the aid of a translator.
Upon successful completion of all learning and assessments for this course, you will receive a statement of attainment for the following Nationally Recognised Unit of Competency:

Through interactive content and realistic scenarios, upon successful completion of this course you will be able to effectively:
English language requirement
A conversational level of English is required to complete this course, as during the assessment you will be required to read and interpret signs and procedures and communicate clearly in English.
Whilst learners under the age of 18 may complete the course (with permission from a parent or guardian) they will be unable to commence employement at a licensed venue until they have turned 18.
Technology requirement
You also require access to a computer and the internet in order to access our online Learning Management System.
Learner Support Service
Our Learner Support Service can provide extra support as needed to help you in understanding the course material or assessments.
Three (3) two-hour support workshop sessions are included free with each Nationally Recognised course you are enrolled in. Additional support can be arranged, if needed, at a cost of $120 per hour.
Is RSA training mandatory in WA?
Yes.
The RSA course is mandatory by Law for all persons serving or supplying alcohol.
In addition, under the Liquor Licensing Act 1990, licensees must ensure that staff employed to serve liquor must undertake RSA training within three months of commencing employment.
