Tony Aveling

Chief Executive Officer Prior to establishing Aveling in 1997, Tony worked in state government, small business, the resources sector and consulting services. His roles varied from operating mine site heavy machinery to positions in human resources and workforce development. These experiences nurtured Tony’s interest in workplace safety and health, in particular the belief that organisational best practice starts with a safety leadership culture that involves training and equipping everyone, at every level, to work and behave safely.

At the core of Aveling’s success is the same commitment from Tony’s leadership that drove its inception – the delivery of quality workforce development solutions that empower individuals to have an active role in creating positive, safe and inclusive work cultures.

Lauren Gonzalez

Managing Director Lauren is responsible for all of Aveling's operations, offering strategic guidance as the organisation continues to evolve and expand into the future. Read more

Managing Director Lauren’s journey began in the health sector before she joined Aveling, gaining a broad range of experience across the organisation before working up to the role of Managing Director.

Her dedication to cultivating an inclusive and supportive work environment stems from a profound belief that every individual aspires to excel in their role. Lauren advocates for empowering people to make decisions, embrace mistakes, and foster a culture of continuous learning.

As Tony’s daughter, she is committed to upholding Aveling's legacy, ensuring that the organisation remains true to its core values of developing, nurturing, and appreciating our learners, clients and staff. Lauren thrives on the opportunity her role provides to breathe life into these values within Aveling and extend them to the learning and development offered to learners and clients.

In her capacity as Managing Director, Lauren is responsible for all of Aveling's operations, offering strategic guidance as the organisation continues to evolve and expand into the future.

Riann Aveling

Corporate Planning Advisor Riann currently works in the role of Corporate Planning Advisor and is responsible for providing strategic policy advice and project support across the Aveling team.

Prior to joining Aveling in 2015, Riann worked in human resources, marketing, project coordination and executive support in various industries, including non-profit, government, legal and hospitality. Her diverse skills and experience enable her to work across the organization in developing and supporting the implementation of strategic initiatives.

Riann is passionate about the positive impact that receiving quality education can have, and believes in seeking innovative and sustainable strategic solutions.

Riann is the Chair of Aveling’s Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group and member of the ESG Strategy team.

Operations Manager Tarnya is responsible for Aveling’s customer service, training services, facilities, café and accounts teams.

With 20+ years management experience in Allied Health and Training sectors, Tarnya brings a unique blend of strategic thinking and hands-on expertise to every aspect of her role, leveraging her knowledge to drive operational excellence across multiple domains.

Tarnya has been with Aveling since 2018 and has been instrumental in developing our customer and client management, creating an environment that enhances the customer experience.

Tarnya’s commitment and passion to optimising processes and delivering exceptional customer service stands as a catalyst for organisational success, enabling us to live our values to develop, nurture and appreciate everyone who comes through our doors.

Tarnya is also a member of our Reconciliation Working Group, and part of the development of Aveling’s initiatives as part of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

Rebecca Caine

Quality Assurance Manager Rebecca is a passionate advocate for the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector, with background working in numerous public and private RTOs across Australia, as well as at the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).

Having assisted in formulating audit methodologies and supporting numerous RTOs whilst at ASQA, Rebecca has integrated this valuable knowledge and experience into her journey with Aveling.

As a driving force behind our Quality Management System and the development of Nationally Recognised programs, Rebecca ensures our training adheres to required standards and industry expectations. Her impact extends across course development, customised training, and quality assurance.

Leading the Quality Assurance team in maintaining Aveling’s ISO Accreditation and overseeing compliance with RTO requirements underscores her commitment to stringent quality benchmarks. Rebecca’s dedication to ensuring understanding and appreciation for compliance makes her an important part of the Aveling team.

Training Manager A qualified electrician with over 20 years’ experience across a number of areas in the mining industry, Mark first joined Aveling as a trainer and assessor.

After three years specialising in mine site inductions and work health and safety training and assessing, Mark moved into the Training Manager role in 2023.

Responsible for managing Aveling’s trainers and assessors, Mark ensures our courses continue to be delivered to the highest standard, continuously improving based on feedback and best practice, and exceeding industry and client expectations.

Rachael Glasgow

Marketing and Sustainability Manager Rachael is responsible for Aveling's brand strategy, visual identity, website and all things marketing, communications and sustainability. Read more

Rachael Glasgow

Marketing and Sustainability Manager Rachael heads up the marketing team at Aveling, and is responsible for brand and marketing strategy. She manages our website, advertising portfolio, social media channels and thought leadership content, and supports organisational strategy direction with product, market and competitor research.

With a strong background in Higher Education marketing in a number of universities in London, Melbourne and Perth, Rachael brings a high level of expertise and experience to the vocational sector and Aveling.

She enjoys the opportunity to be creative, utilising her skills in graphic design, photography and video production in Aveling's promotional content.

Rachael is also a member of our Reconciliation Working Group and leads Aveling's ESG strategy, tapping into her background in, and passion for, sustainability.

Strategic Projects Manager Moira joined Aveling in late 2023 as our Strategic Projects Manager.

With over 20 years’ experience of working in the not-for-profit and government sectors, both in Western Australia and Scotland, at both a strategic and operational level Moira understands the importance of working collaboratively with stakeholders and partners, across various projects, to deliver on Aveling’s strategic vision.

Moira has experience in service design, digital transformation, change management and continuous improvement.

With a passionate belief in the equality of opportunity and the importance that education and training plays in delivering meaningful outcomes, not only individuals but for communities as a whole, Moira is thrilled to have joined the Aveling team, and for the opportunities this provides to make a difference.
