Aveling has packaged this Qualification into four sessions that provide the flexibility to undertake the course at your own pace, as well as allow for the time to complete required post-course assessments between each session.
You can undertake these sessions in any order, or as needed, but the recommended order for those new to training in listed below. See individual session webpages for more information.
Each session consists of on course and post course assessments. Whilst each learner is different, it is expected that learners may need to spend between 5-10 hours per week completing the post course assessment tasks for each course. It is estimated that the average time to complete the full qualification is 12 months, but you may wish to complete sessions over a longer period of time as needed.
Learners will need access to a workplace/venue to train and assess others to meet the assessment requirements. See the individual session webpages for full details.
Completion of this qualification is a minimum requirement for trainers and assessors operating without supervision under applicable VET legislation, frameworks and/or standards.

Introduction to Vocational Education and Training
This course serves as a useful introduction to VET and training.

TAESS00019 – Assessor Skill Set
This skill set provides the necessary skills and knowledge for people to conduct assessment and operate without supervision in the vocational education and training (VET) sector, in accordance with the Standards for RTOs.

Managing workplace learning
Supporting and delivering learning in the workplace.

Planning and delivering face to face training.

Technology requirements
You will need to bring a laptop with word processing software (e.g. Microsoft Word) with you to use during the classroom training component. Wifi access is provided free of charge whilst you are in our facility.
Competency requirements
To undertake the TAE40122 qualification, you must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in your proposed area of training and assessment via:
- A qualification or Statement of Attainment in your industry, and/or
- Your resume or an outline of your work experience.
Workplace requirements
In order to complete the required post course assessments as part of this course, you must have access to a workplace or venue in which you can train and assess others including:
- A group of at least four people in the workplace or venue to whom you can deliver a series of 3 sequential group face-to-face, in person training sessions of at least 30 minutes each.
- Two people (who are not part of the above group) for whom you can facilitate individual training sessions of at least 30 minutes.
- A manager or supervisor to complete workplace observation reports on your performance.
- Access to a qualified assessor to participate in validation activities.
- 2 candidates with whom you can conduct assessments (can be the same individuals as above).
- A mentee with whom to facilitate at least 3 mentoring sessions (30 minutes each) (can be the same individual as above).
- An individual with whom 3 work based learning sessions (of at least 30 minutes each) can be conducted (can be the same individual as above).
Certificate IV learner requirements
Learners applying to a Certificate IV level course are expected to meet the following requirements:
- Ability to access and use technology to create business documents
- Professional working proficiency in English
- Over 18 years of age
- Minimum of 11 years of schooling, Certificate III qualification or equivalent work experience
Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Survey
If this is your first Aveling course, you will be required to complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) survey before you start the course.
Based on the outcome of the survey, Aveling may contact you to discuss options that will best suit your individual learning needs. Please note that additional costs may be incurred if literacy support is required.

Learner Support
Our Learner Support Service can provide extra support as needed to help you in understanding the course material or assessments.
Three (3) two-hour support workshop sessions are included free with each session of this qualification. Additional support can be arranged, if needed, at a cost of $120 per hour.

The TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment replaces the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment which has been superseded.
Currently, the TAE40116 remains the minimum requirement for VET Trainers and Assessors working at RTOs, along with the TAE40122 version.
