Prepare to lead teams through WHS processes and procedures in the workplace, as you learn the skills, knowledge and outcomes required to implement and monitor an organisation’s work health and safety (WHS) policies, procedures and programs in order to meet legislative requirements.
You will be able to demonstrate leadership in WHS by identifying organisational requirements and qualities for positive management performance, aligning with organisational values and modelling leadership behaviour.
Learn how to contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS processes and procedures in your organisation through meaningful consultation and participation as prescribed in the legislation.
This includes communicating relevant information, identifying feedback opportunities and improving consultation and participation within the employee and contractor pool.
As an example, you will gain the skills and knowledge required to develop processes and procedures for controlling hazardous chemicals in the workplace, an then monitoring their effectiveness.
This course forms one of three sessions that make up the BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety. Upon successful completion of this course you will achieve four two Units of Competency that can be used as partial completion of the Certificate IV. To learn more, visit the qualification webpage.
This course is delivered in the classroom, over three days at our Jandakot training centre, 15 minutes from the Perth CBD.
You will take part in engaging discussion and activities throughout the day, as you explore the topics facilitated by our expert trainer. Following the classroom training, you will complete assessments back at your workplace as you apply what you have learned.

This course has been designed with a practical and interactive learning approach, where classroom learning is followed up with the opportunity to apply what you have learned in a workplace setting before moving onto the next session.
Assessments
This course includes workplace assessments, designed to solidify your classroom learning.
Assessments include knowledge questions, workplace assessments relevant to each session and workplace observation reports (to be completed by your supervisor or manager). Assessments are to be completed after each classroom session.
Upon successful completion of all learning and assessments for this course, you will receive a statement of attainment for the following Nationally Recognised Units of Competency:
BSBWHS413 Contribute to implementation and maintenance of WHS consultation and participation processes
BSBWHS431 Develop processes and procedures for controlling hazardous chemicals in the workplace
BSBLDR411 Demonstrate leadership in the workplace
BSBWHS411 Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs
This course forms one session of the BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, and provides three units of competency required for the full Qualification.

This program will suit those whose roles are either exclusively focused on workplace health and safety or where WHS is part of a broader responsibility.
There are no specific pre-requisites for this course, however to ensure this course is suitable for you, we ask that you consider the below.
Certificate IV learner requirements
It is expected that learners applying to a Certificate IV level course meet the following requirements:
Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Survey
If this is your first Aveling course, you will be required to complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) survey to provide us with an understanding of your level of literacy and numeracy.
Based on the outcome of the survey, we may contact you to discuss options that will best suit your individual learning needs. If literacy support is required, additional costs may be incurred.
