Understand the risks and your responsibilities when transporting dangerous goods.
In our Dangerous Goods for Road Transport awareness training, we focus on teaching you how to handle and transport hazardous materials safely. It’s crucial to have this knowledge because it helps prevent accidents and protect both you and the environment.
This course takes you through the Transport of Dangerous Goods Code, and the regulations and procedures you need to follow when transporting dangerous goods by road. You’ll learn the classification of dangerous goods and how the different categories are packaged, labelled, and handled.
You’ll learn the specific requirements for transporting dangerous goods, including how to select the right packaging materials, such as drums or containers that meet international standards, and how to properly complete shipping documents, including dangerous goods declarations and transport manifests. These documents are crucial for providing information about the goods and ensuring everyone involved in the transport process is aware of the hazards.
Stowage, how you secure the dangerous goods in the vehicle to prevent accidents or spills during transport, and segregation, keeping incompatible goods separate to avoid chemical reactions that could be dangerous are important topics also covered in this course. You’ll understand how these practices help minimize the risks and ensure safe transportation.
You’ll also learn about the appropriate licenses or endorsements to operate vehicles carrying hazardous materials. We’ll guide you through the process of obtaining and maintaining these licenses and explain the responsibilities that come with them.
