Under the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and Health and Safety Regulations 2022, individuals must hold a construction induction certificate (White Card) to undertake construction work at a workplace.
This comprehensive course provides the knowledge required for participants to obtain a White Card and includes the Nationally Recognised Unit of Competency CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry.
This course will take participants through the relevant health and safety legislative requirements of construction work in Western Australia. Participants will learn how to identify construction hazards and risk control measures, health and safety communication and reporting processes, and incident and emergency response procedures.
On successful completion of this course, participants will receive a White Card and a Statement of Attainment for the Unit of Competency.
This course is available on request as a group private booking. It can be delivered at Aveling’s facility in Jandakot, or on site as arranged with the client.

The assessment for this course is conducted in English and must be completed without the aid of a translator.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required to be provided by participants to complete the practical demonstration (see eligibility requirements for details).
As part of the assessment process, participants will be required to verify their identity.
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for the following Nationally Recognised Unit of Competency:

LGIRS location requirement
As per the Western Australian Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety (LGIRS) (formerly DEMIRS) requirements, WorkSafe Construction Induction Training (CIT) cards (White Cards) can only be issued to learners who are physically located in Western Australia at the time of their assessment.
Therefore, participants must be based in Western Australia in order to obtain the WA White Card via this course, and as such, it can only be delivered within Western Australia.
English language requirement
A conversational level of English is required to complete this course, as during the assessment participants will need to listen to instructions and respond clearly to questions in English. Participants will also be required to read and interpret signs and procedures and write short, simple notes when filling in a basic form.
PPE requirements for assessment
Our assessment requires participants to demonstrate proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

The requirements for construction induction training apply to construction work. The definition of construction work under the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and Work Health and Safety Regulations 2022 is very broad and includes a wide range of activities.
Construction work is defined in the Regulations [Reg 289] as meaning:
“any work carried out in connection with the construction, alteration, conversion, fitting-out, commissioning, renovation, repair, maintenance, refurbishment, demolition, decommissioning or dismantling of a structure.”
