The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) requires all shore-based personnel involved in the transport of dangerous goods by sea to complete approved mandatory training.
Aveling’s Maritime Dangerous Goods Courses are developed by Exis Technologies, in collaboration with the International Maritime Organization, and are approved by AMSA.
The course will provide the knowledge and skills needed to fulfil the obligations placed on an individual in the workplace, under the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code.
Under IMDG Code chapter 1.3, refresher training must be done periodically to take into account of changes in regulations and practice. This refresher training must be done prior to the ‘current’ edition of the IMDG Code being superseded.
This course is compliant to Amendment 41-22 of the IMDG Code, which is mandatory from 1 January 2024 but may be applied by Administrations in whole or in part on a voluntary basis from 1 January 2023.
This course is delivered online through our partner, Exis Technologies’ Learning Management System (LMS). Once you have booked and paid, you will receive an email with a link to gain access to the system and your course.
This course provides a recap of the main IMDG Code provisions and includes an update on significant changes in the latest Amendment for personnel who have already been trained online or in the classroom, and have previous knowledge of the IMDG Code’s provisions, under IMDG Code chapter 1.3. Refresher training must be done every 2 years.
This course includes tests at the conclusion of each element to ensure your understanding of learning topics. These contriute to your final mark (Target Pass Mark: 75%).
This course is for those who have previously completed a full Maritime Dangerous Goods course appropriate to their work area. under IMDG Code chapter 1.3. Refresher training must be done every 2 years.
To successfully complete this course, you will need to have proficiency in reading and writing in English, as well as basic computer skills.
You also require access to a computer and the internet in order to access our online Learning Management System.
