Congratulations to former Aveling learner Tony Booth on winning Health and Safety Representative of the year at the DMIRS Work Health and Safety Excellence Awards!
Tony completed his Health and Safety Representative training at Aveling in September last year, and has gone on to make some impactful changes at Cecil Andrews College.
Health and Safety Representatives serve as the link between employee and employer, and a good rep is always looking for things to do better. Tony has exemplified this, implementing a number of new processes across a variety of departments at the school, from concussion testing for students with head injuries, upgrading first aid facilities and equipment, to auditing and reducing the number of chemicals used in cleaning, and even repainting the canteen floor in non-slip paint.
WHS is the core of what we do at Aveling, and our mission is more than just training, it’s to improve health and safety in workplaces across WA. That’s why we’re so happy for Tony, and all of our learners, as they take the knowledge they’ve learned, and do great things back in their workplaces to improve the safety of their team.
Well done to Tony, and all the winners and finalists of the Work Health and Safety Excellence Awards.
