The Leading a Team training course will support your transition from team member to team leader, as you prepare to demonstrate leadership by identifying organisational requirements and qualities for positive management performance, align your behaviour with organisational values and model appropriate leadership behaviour.
Good communication is an essential skill for leaders. This course provides you with the skills and knowledge to lead teams effectively through understanding and selecting appropriate communication strategies to monitor and support your team.
You will learn how to plan team outcomes and contingencies, while coordinating and supporting the team, and monitoring performance whilst developing opportunities for improvements.
This course forms one of four sessions that make up the BSB40520 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management. Upon successful completion of this course you will achieve two Units of Competency that can be used as partial completion of the Certificate IV. To learn more, visit the qualification webpage.
This course is delivered in the classroom, over two days at our Jandakot training centre, 15 minutes from the Perth CBD.
You will take part in engaging discussion and acivities throughout the course, as you explore the topics facilitated presented by our expert trainer. Following the classroom training, you will complete assessments back at your workplace as you apply what you have learned.

This course has been designed with a practical and interactive learning approach, where classroom learning is followed up with the opportunity to apply what you have learned in a workplace setting before moving onto the next session.
This course includes workplace assessments, designed to solidify your classroom learning.
Assessments include knowledge questions, workplace assessments relevant to each session and workplace observation reports (to be completed by your supervisor or manager). Assessments are to be completed after each classroom session.
Upon successful completion of all learning and assessments for this course, you will receive a statement of attainment for the Nationally Recognised Units of Competency:
BSBLDR411 Demonstrate leadership in the workplace
BSBXCM401 Apply communication strategies in the workplace
BSBXTW401 Lead and facilitate a team
This course forms one session of the BSB40520 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management, and provides two units of competency required for the full Qualification.

This program will suit those who are already a manager or leader looking to consolidate and build upon your existing skills and experience, or have been recently promoted and need to gain an understanding of the best practice foundation skills needed to be a great leader.
There are no specific pre-requisites for this course, however to ensure this course is suitable for you, we ask that you consider the below.

Ideally you will need to be in leadership position or be able to simulate it within your workplace.
Certificate IV learner requirements
It is expected that learners applying to a Certificate IV level course meet the following requirements:
Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Survey
If this is your first Aveling course, you will be required to complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) survey to provide us with an understanding of your level of literacy and numeracy.
Based on the outcome of the survey, we may contact you to discuss options that will best suit your individual learning needs. If literacy support is required, additional costs may be incurred.
